A rainhead is a container connecting the gutter to the downpipe to increase water capacity for maximum performance by providing an external overflow point to regulate the flow of water into the downpipe, reduce storm water surges into drains, encourage drainage away from the roof and minimise the risk of overflow into a building, especially under severe weather conditions.

A sump is a recessed low collection pan/ tray installed within the box gutter at the point of connection to the downpipe.

They hold the storm-water and collect debris before it flows into the downpipe. Colorspan Industries are able to fabricate sumps in a range of shapes and sizes to the usual 100mm or 150mm depth or as required otherwise.
